It's on Steel!

They inserted the steel beams under the house's first floor joists and beams today.  I'm no expert, but it sure seems like they did it quick.  I got the thumbs up from some of the movers that the house looked in great shape where they've pulled away the stone.



Part of the move is 3 chimneys.  They added some extra steel around and through the bases of those to ensure their safety and support.

For anyone who doesn't know, the house will be 40' wide as it goes down the road, and it's 3 levels so we need a 40' wide and 38' high path.  BGE, Comcast, and Verizon (the three utility companies) will coordinate with each other to lower the lines crossing the path and then restore them when the house passes by.  Also, a signal contractor will have to dismantle 2 traffic signals and 4-5 streetlights to allow clear passage.  Neat, huh?!

Well, tomorrow comes early.  Tomorrow also brings raising the house to attach the "skates".
